3👻 Spooked and Silent
We asked about ghosting and the girlies gave us the truth. 41% of you said ghosting and being ghosted a few times is part of the cycle of dating today and 33% of you said you’ve been out of the dating scene long enough to avoid the scaries.

Some of you wrote in with your own ghosting stories, and honestly, they deserve their own deep dive. One girlie said:
“I’ve been ghosted more than not — apparently men are very avoidant. My last boyfriend of ten months ghosted after saying his cancer had come back… and to my knowledge, he’s living a very healthy life. Guess he didn’t think ghosting me would cause any upset. Moving on.”
🍿 Pop Culture Bites
At the Wall Street Journal’s Innovator Awards, Billie Eilish asked “if you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire?” She then revealed she’s donating $11.5 million from her recent tour to various charities.
Kady Heron isn’t the only one who goes spooky for Halloween. Every year Heidi Klum spends hours in the makeup chair transforming into a costume and taking the cake for commitment. This year she stepped out as Medusa.

Who else waited up way too late to see what Heidi would wear this year?
Spare Parts. Jesse Eisenberg is giving his kidney to a stranger. An altruistic organ donation from the writer and director of A Real Pain.
Sydney Sweeney wore this to the Variety Power of Woman Gala. It was a choice.
Bugonia is for non’ya. Audiences aren’t raving about Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma Stone’s latest film. We’ll see if the weird conspiracy theory flick is too off beat to earn another Oscar for Emma.
💬 What We’re Chatting About:
Carol: 🎲 Reporting live from Seat 11E, where I just paid $21 for in-flight Wi-Fi on my return flight from my first ever trip to Vegas. I’m running on three hours of sleep and deep regret over saying yes to that final espresso martini.
Did I win money? No. Did I lose money? No. Not because I broke even, but because the money I was playing with was surprise cash I found in my wallet. If you know anything about girl math, you know cash is actually free. I was playing with the universe’s money.
One of my best girlies on the trip pointed out: Vegas really is for the girlies. Anything goes outfits, bright lights, and lots of fast decisions based on vibes. As such, I’d like to propose that Vegas needs tables reserved solely for women. Out of all the tables this weekend (there were…many), I only got one magical 30-minute sprint at an all girlie table. The vibes were immaculate. The very first thing I was asked when I sat down was, “what’s your zodiac sign?”
First hand? 3 out of 5 of us hit Blackjack. Incredible. Vegas, I’ll be back.

Aforementioned Girlie (Hillary) and I at the Harvest install at the Bellagio. They piped pumpkin spice through the air vents. No notes.
Skylar: Season two of Nobody Wants This is, unfortunately, giving growing pains. The second half of the season is stronger, but it feels like they’ve kind of… lost the plot. Literally. There’s way too much leaning on character tropes, and anytime we get close to real conflict, it’s resolved in thirty seconds flat. It’s like they’re scared to let anyone be unlikable — because god forbid a rom-com character be messy for more than a scene.
💼 This week I was inspired by an article I read in The Kit that said women, especially Gen Z, are opting out of management positions in their careers. Apparently, 60% would rather “advance as individual contributors” than manage a team. Which… yeah? Group project hangover anyone?
I got into what that says about our relationship to work, the conundrum of the millennial managers, and why the new buzzword “Conscious Unbossing” might not be as great as it sounds. Read all my thoughts on substack.
🎵 Fun fact. Data (and this ig post) shows that we stop listening to the newest pop music after the age of 33, generating a term called a “taste freeze.” Also, coincidentally the term that describes my type while dating in my twenties.
🔔 Giving Season
It’s that time of year when everyone starts shopping for the holidays — or, if you’re a procrastinator like me, starts thinking about the fact that you’ll soon need to start thinking about gifts.
This season, we want to spotlight women-owned businesses with fun, unique finds and nonprofits where a little donation goes a long way. Have someone you want us to shout out? Send them our way. Reply back at [email protected] and let us know.
Buying cards to send out this holiday season? Shop at Minted and use code FUNDRAISEMSYM and a % of your purchase will go to Mountain Strong.
Millions of individuals are about to need food assistance because of delayed access to SNAP benefits. Nationally, Feeding America is a great resource for giving back, and if you’re in CLT, Nourish Up has ways to donate food, or volunteer to deliver meals.
🕵️ Girlie Detectives in the Chat
Shout out to the girlies who managed to decode Carol and my chaotic handwriting to figure out the show we meant to recommend. We asked if anyone could make sense of it a few weeks ago — and you actually did. We are not worthy.

…So a late reco from our Nina’s show? The Charlie Sheen doc.
