What We’re Chatting About This week:
Carol: 👖 Pant Trends. Am I too late? I recently purchased a pair of barrel jeans just to hear that skinny jeans are making a come back. I am not a millennial who refuses to (side) part with things, but damn. Give a girl a minute? I just exchanged my skinny jean pile for a stack of $25 Madewell coupons last year and we all know fast fashion is killing the environment. What do you want from me? I stand in my closet, naked, for far too long every morning, wondering if the outfit I’m choosing makes it obvious that Sabrina the Teenage Witch was my idol for a long time (yes, I thought I might be a witch).
🧀 I’ve been lying about liking feta cheese. For years. To impress…no one. It’s a solo mission. A private struggle. A silent war. Why? I wish I knew. Perhaps because Feta feels like the cornerstone of the Millennial brand. Perhaps it felt too controversial to lose one of the rare unifiers in today’s society by revealing my truth: I hate feta cheese. It’s like if salty disappointment were crumbly. But I’ve been pretending. Oh, I’ve been pretending. I add it to my Yafo bowl, willingly. I made that viral TikTok feta bake recipe more than once. Why? For who? When did it all begin? Was it the first time I heard the word “umami” and didn’t want to ask what it meant? I’ll never know, what I do know is I can’t fight this battle anymore. Now you know my truth. No, I don’t want to add feta on the cheese board.
Skylar: 🎥 The Studio. Seth Rogan’s Apple TV comedy is a love letter (or love bomb tbh) to the executives who make movies, and the film industry as a whole. Watching it has made me point out every single thing I loved about living in Los Angeles, so I guess it’s also revealing my own toxic relationship to La La Land. The show is hilarious, gorgeously shot, and full of unexpected celeb cameos that will make you feel like you’re a contributor for Deadline.
🎸 Aging rock stars. I am, admittedly, a pop girlie for life, but when your boyfriend gets floor seats to watch Pearl Jam. You go. I had a blast, and Eddie Vedder (60) was giving rock- star Pedro Pascal? Let me know how delusional I am below. Please note that I did not say “delulu” because as a 20 year-old recently pointed out to me, that is no longer in the youth vernacular. You’re welcome.

Eddie Vedder…or is it?
Pedro is that you?
Deep Dives: 📖
You know that moment, three glasses of wine deep at girls’ night, the convo’s getting juicy… and you have to go home?
Yeah, us too. That’s why we take the hottest topics from our live shows and do the digging for you. The deep dives, the receipts, the “wait, I need to know more” kind of answers. You bring the curiosity—we’ll bring the conclusions (and citations…or at least we’ll try).
Skylar: 💎 Diamonds may not be a girl’s best friend anymore, but they’re definitely still a topic of debate in the group chat. We went digging (metaphorically) into the great lab-grown vs. natural diamond showdown, and let’s just say… feelings were very real.
Is your diamond “real,” ethical, or just really expensive? After interviewing local jewelers, diamond buyers, and sales staff here is what we think: Whether it's lab-grown or natural, the diamond you choose says less about science and more about your values—and in a market where size doesn’t really count, the most valuable gem is being honest about what matters to you. Check out the deep dive.
FYI - There’s no TikTok trend or YouTube tutorial that can teach you a trick to tell what type of diamond you have.
Carol: 💉 People always ask what I do for my skin, and right after I say “why you so obsessed with me” I usually say “there’s a shit load of Botox in this head” and leave it at that.
But the truth is: I do everything. I’ve been an aesthetics and plastics nurse for over 13 years. I’ve had neurotoxin (Botox, Xeomin, Dysport) for more than a decade, many syringes of filler, regular lasers, and have used Rx-grade skincare since my early 20s. I’m qualified to answer—and I’m sharing it all.
Check out the first guide in this series: Skincare 101. I’ll teach you the important players and whether or not you should save or splurge.
Giddy up: 🎠
We’ve all had at least one shopping experience that has filled us with unmatched confidence, and one that has sent us into a green juice cleanse spiral. Thrift, consignment, and vintage shopping has the power to do both quite frankly.
After our last live show at ThriftPony in CLT, we chatted with the owner Hellen Moffitt.
Who would be in her dream group chat? Pinky Cole from Slutty Vegan, Barbara Corcoran from Shark Tank, and Emma Grede from Skims/Good American.
What does Hellen think is good for character development? Dressing ugly sometimes.
You can check out her full interview here and follow her & ThriftPony: @thriftponyclt @whatthehellen
See us LIVE! Don't miss the next GCG show! The Bohemian: A Wine Bar on 5/22.
