⁉️ Girlie Tell All
We’ve said it once, we’ve said it a thousand times (and we will eventually also get the merch) girlies know girlies.
Our second favorite sorority rush friendship follow up question, is one that instantly tells you if you might be friends with someone. We’ve talked about the dirty martini test, and what happens when you ask a girlie where you got something. Today we’re talking chosen spirit animals and icons.

This week, we’re asking what thing when answered makes you feel like you instantly know everything you need to know about a girlie?
What single thing would you most want to know about a potential future friend?

❤️🔥 We all know about the condom shortage at the Olympics, but we’re also fully seated for the cute and viral dating diaries of Sophia Kirkby, who originally posted as a response to Jake Pates.
💍 The Olympics continue to bring the hardware — and not just in medals. U.S. ski racer Breezy Johnson’s boyfriend popped the question right after her crash in the Super-G. While some questioned the timing, Breezy, confirmed that an Olympic‑moment proposal had long been a dream of hers. Taylor Swift chimed in to say congrats.
🕶️ On the heels of the trailer for the Devil Wears Prada Sequel dropping, the internet is still loving the real life shade Anna Wintour brought to her recent joint interview with Chloe Malle. Why is no one readyyyy?
💍 So You Think You Can Dance favorite Allison Holker announced her engagement several years after the tragic loss of her husband tWitch.
🥈Cheers for Women Supporting Women. Chloe Kim narrowly missed making history with a third consecutive Olympic gold, she was surpassed by her own mentee, 17 year old Gaon Choi of South Korea. After her run, Chloe immediately celebrated Gaon’s win harder than anyone else.
💋Margot Robbie is every millennial. Margot Robbie confirmed that her favorite on-screen kiss was the iconic Ryan Gosling & Rachel McAdams Best Kiss at the MTV Movie Awards moment, where they reenacted it live on stage. Same girl, same.
💬 What We’re Chatting About:
Carol: Come with me to change my life.
If you’ve been craving a New Year restart, I have excellent news: Chinese New Year is this Tuesday. I could not be more ready for the Year of the Fire Horse. A special thanks to my boyfriend’s mom, and every other Chinese woman on “Chinese Baddie” TikTok, who is patiently educating every white woman on all things Chinese culture and astrology.
We’re leaving behind the Year of the Wood Snake (2025), which in Chinese astrology is associated with growth, strategy, and transformation, heavy on the shedding metaphors. We’re entering the Year of the Fire Horse (2026), which is linked to bold action, independence, intensity, and fast-moving change.
2025 was the one of the most transformative years of my life. After thirteen years, I resigned my healthcare job to pursue something I had always wanted to do but had been too scared, for most of my adult life, to admit out loud. I want to be a comic. I want to be an entertainer.
The longer version of how I arrived here, how a very stable, very tenured 35-year-old walks away from a long career to pursue something many consider insane, is a story I can tell later. But the simple truth is I had known for a long time that I wanted to do something else, I was just too scared to say it.
I didn’t become brave overnight. It took months of gathering courage, a lot of encouragement from friends and family, and a healthy dose of surprise trauma in the form of a hurricane. Finally, I realized my courage would never outpace my regret. I took the leap.
You don’t have to hate your current life to outgrow it. Being good at something does not mean you are meant to do it forever. And the timing will never feel clean. There will always be something, financial, relational, biological, logistical, whispering that you should wait.
If there’s something you’ve been circling, maybe this is your moment, too. What’s your shedded skin? What are you ready to leave behind? Regret grows faster than courage, and I promise, it’s not too late. Pull the rip cord.
At the very least, don’t wash your hair on Tuesday morning.
Skylar: Last week Carol and I locked in very important, very professional, very business plans for Friday evening. It included plans that started at 9:30pm. You read that correct. Started at. 9:30. In the evening.
We also knew we would be hosting our author talk on Saturday morning. We had a plan. We were aligned. We were ready to be responsible.

11:30pm came and went, and our night didn’t conclude until the time was well into the single digits my aging skin simply should not see.
The next morning we congratulated ourselves on being women who really can do anything as we desperately sipped our caffeinated beverages, discussed a major need for protein, and prepped for the author talk.
Later in the week, we were sent the pictures from the talk, and girlies… Woof. There is nothing like a hi-res photo to remind you that six hours of sleep after an evening imbibing is categorically no longer an option for you.

Carol and I immediately texted each other ohmygodareyoukiddingmehowdidyouletmelivelilkethis?!
We both quickly assured the other this is simply not what we look like and also revealed we both looked at ourselves, and then zoomed in on each other to confirm that in fact the other person did not look like this.
Carol has deduced it’s possible we were the victims of a fish eye lens trap, and I have deduced we are not giving enough money to fund the research of under eye bags.
Our discourse about ourselves provided an entire afternoon of laughter and several stand up bit pitches, and that alone is something I am forever grateful for. But my favorite part of the entire story was back on Friday night, when we very actively abandoned our earlier commitment to ourselves to make a new commitment to the moment in real time. That unique and rare experience of having a night out when you both want the exact same thing and nobody gets in your way or would rather be home.
And as we giggled in the bathroom before heading home, I was thrilled to know that we would have totally gotten each other into trouble at different phases in our life, but that the universe gave us this time.
🥂 Champagne No Problem
A wine expert recently posted about alternative Champagne brands worth trying the next time you find yourself reaching for commercially popular Veuve.
I’ve screenshotted for a rainy day and am sharing here in case anyone wants to compare notes in the future.

Last week, at the request of a curious girlie, we polled to find out: do you listen to music while getting it on? And if so… what’s playing?
Here’s the breakdown:

18% said they prefer the sound of silence.
18% said it depends on the mood.
55% admitted they don’t… but would if someone just gave them a playlist.
The remaining few… delivered

A cameo for good. This authentic response from Duff Goldman about why he does celebrity cameos totally made me love humans a little more, and changed my perspective on the people that do them.
