👄 Gossip Girlies:

Last week we asked the girlies to spill the deets on where they source their tea and the results are in:

Things we’ve learned on our favorite pods 🎧. In the 16th–17th centuries, when women gathered to talk, it wasn’t just seen as idle chatter, it was branded suspicious. “Gossips” and women’s networks were painted as dangerous. But in reality? Gossip was survival. It was health tips, relationship intel, and safety warnings, the kind of knowledge you could only get through a community of women.

So whether you’re swapping screenshots in the group chat or lurking in a comment thread, you’re really just carrying on the tradition of women as each other’s best source of truth, care, and entertainment. 🔮

🍂🎃 Basic Witches Bracket - Round One Results

Thank you to everyone who hit the polls this week to let us know their favorite things about fall. Here’s the rundown of how the first round played out.

🐈‍⬛ 🧙🏼‍♀️Hocus Pocus (60%) vs 🥞⭐️ Practical Magic (40%): The Sanderson sisters ate, the Owens sisters wept, and Mr. Binx carried this poll on his furry little back. Practical Magic girlies (read: Carol): fire up the blender to ease the pain.

🎃 Pumpkin Patch (56%) vs 🍎 Apple Picking (44%): Aligned. Honestly, the only thing we’ve ever picked at an apple orchard is a fight with our boyfriend. Pumpkin Patch is basically Apple Picking with better props.

🥫 Soup Season (67%) vs 🏈 Football Season (33%): Soup is the quarterback now. Ladle’s up, helmets down.

👢Knee-High Boots (58%) vs 🐑 Uggs (42%): Knee-high boots strut their way to victory, but you’ll have to pry my Uggs out of my cold, ghostly, hands before I give them up.

👯‍♀️ Gilmore Girls (77%) vs 🔪 Buffy the Vampire Slayer (23%). Don’t slay us, Buffy. Sorry but, fall belongs to Stars Hollow.

📚 Cozy Book Day (50%) vs 📺 Streaming Binge (50%) Tied! A dead heat. Democracy has failed us. Somewhere a girlie is furiously flipping through Fourth Wing while another is hitting “Next Episode” on Nobody Wants This (not us patiently waiting for season two to drop 10/23).

Is it the year 2000 because we’ve called a recount:

💬 What We’re Chatting About:

Skylar: 🦞 I love fresh lobster, but every time I forget they still have eyes when you eat them. This weekend I got to spend time with one of my dearest friends (and a true girlie raising the next generation of girlie—photo below for proof). We had a seaside sunset evening, so all was right with the world. And in true girlhood fashion, she did not judge me for my complete lack of lobster skills. Who knew the tails were tough and the claws were the prize??

As a girlie who loved the Little Mermaid growing up, I really do have to remind myself this is NOT Sebastian.

She patiently guided me through my bibbed dinner, and in between cracking shells we cracked open our souls and of course swapped all the products we’re currently obsessed with, which I’m sharing with you this week.

French Beauty Hub. Who knew about this and has been gatekeeping?? Apparently this is the spot to buy French beauty products. They are priced at EU rates, which means actually v affordable. If you’ve been on the fence about placing an order, consider this your official sign. It’s girlie-tested, girlie-approved, and strongly recommend.

On the hub, she couldn’t recommend this sunscreen enough. It’s lightweight (legit feels like water) yet packs a high SPF (50!) and feels amazing, smells great, and actually works.

Lucas’ Pawpaw Ointment. An Australian lip balm (plus everything) cure that is worth its weight in gold.

Carol: The power of girlies with group chats. This weekend marks the one year anniversary of Hurricane Helene. On September 27, 2024, Helene tore through my hometown of Burnsville, NC, leaving catastrophic devastation in its wake. The storm knocked out cell service, and those of us outside the mountains were left to wonder what was happening back home.

In a time of fear and uncertainty, my closest childhood friends and I turned to a group chat we’ve had for years (but that was made after high school because…Nokias). The group chat became our lifeline - checking in on one another, trying to piece together what was happening, and attempting to provide comfort in the unknown. Like most groups of women, we are resourceful and relentless, and quickly became hellbent on finding the best way to help our hometown.

What started as a GoFundMe with a $5,000 goal turned into something none of us could have imagined. Within 11 days, we raised $100,000. Within 71 days, that girlie group chat became Mountain Strong, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to long-term recovery and resilience in Yancey and Mitchell Counties. One year later, Mountain Strong has raised over half a million dollars, with the vast majority already reinvested back into the community.

Storms are powerful, but girlies in group chats are a force to be reckoned with. One year later, Mountain Strong is proof of what that force can build. Whatever goodness you get from your group chat, no matter how big, or how small - keep going.

Thank you for indulging me in a not-so-funny take this week. As a token of appreciation, and because I can’t resist an opportunity for comedy, here’s a gem from the height of the rescue effort. Tensions were high, adrenaline was higher, and one of the girlies in the chat was caught red-handed posting my cell number on a public Facebook forum like it was 2009 Craigslist. Hint: it was Charity.

To Laney, Morgan, Lilly, Charity, Taylor, and Kacie - I love you all and I’m so proud of everything we’ve accomplished.

🍿 Pop Culture Bites

🕶️ It’s no secret The Devil Wears Prada sequel is filming, but I still devoured every post of Meryl-as-Miranda at the Gabbana show casually chatting with her real-life inspo, Anna Wintour. Now we wait to see if the sequel delivers. And if DeMarchelier is, in fact, confirmed.

🚨👙 The slow-mo run is BACK, girlies, Baywatch is making a modern-day comeback. The iconic red swimsuits, the beach-side drama, the “are they running toward me or away from me?” confusion… it’s all returning for a new era

🖤 Break out your smudged eyeliner and that deeeeeeep side part, My Chemical Romance just announced their Black Parade 2026 tour. We are dusting off our Converse, re-learning the “Welcome to the Black Parade” piano intro, and reminding our moms that it was never a phase.

💃🏻 DWTS (aka Dancing With The Secret Wives of Mormon Wives) is back for its 34th season, and watching Whitney get the full glam-up has been… a lot. Her week-two cha-cha? Honestly, ok girl, I’m seated. But also confused. How are the girlies feeling about this?

🥂Only Murders in the…Wedding. It’s official, Selena Gomez just married Benny Blanco, and the guest list looked suspiciously like a call sheet for her Hulu series.

📝 The 12th edition of Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary drops this November, and new words officially include cold brew and hard pass. Can we talk about how perfectly girlie-coded that is?

🎟️ Speakeasy Style

We have less than 10 tickets left for our next show in Lake Norman! We’ll be at Nina’s Boutique on 10/16 and trust us, you don’t want to miss this. Giveaways, goodies, a $100 gift card drawing, 15% off, and a speakeasy vibe.

10/22: We’ll be in CLT with an event to celebrate the season 👻.

📝 Psst…

Nothing makes us happier than the texts we get after a newsletter drops. It makes us feel more like we are passing notes in class full of “omg same” scribbles in the margins.

Here are some favorites from this week, and maybe our gentle reminder that you can always text, email, DM us, we want to hear what you think.

ICYMI - don’t worry, it’s STILL Fat Bear Week. Go vote for your fave chonky legend. 🐻👑

First, we googled “sc[ou]rge” and then we lit a candle for this girlie.
